‘All for One’ – a Wainwrights saga

Anyone who follows Right Lines on social media should have noticed quite a lot of content in the last year and a half about Sabrina Verjee and her various attempts to complete continuous rounds of the Wainwrights, the 214 fells described by Alfred Wainwright in his seven-volume Pictorial Guide to the Lakeland Fells. With the ambitious aim of breaking six days for finishing the 525km distance and 36000m of ascent, Sabrina was hoping to break the existing fastest known time, set by Paul Tierney in 2019. Her quest began in 2020 and in the end involved four attempts, which together became quite the saga!

I (along with oldest son Ciaran) was there during her first full round in 2020, then as a company, Right Lines teamed up with Berghaus and La Sportiva earlier this year to help fund filming, as Sabs took on the challenge again (twice in quick succession, as it turned out). Collaborating as The Endurance Creative, Steve Ashworth and Summit Fever Media, captured a wealth of wonderful material and now that has been crafted into ‘All for One’, a film directed and produced by Steve.

The film celebrates the fell running community as it comes together to help someone complete one of the toughest challenges in mountain running. It chronicles Sabrina’s personal quest, but with a big focus on the contributions of her dedicated support team, and throughout, it’s a brilliant showcase for the glorious Lakeland landscape that she ran through.

It was a privilege to play a small role in allowing this amazing story to be documented in such impressive fashion, and it was an absolute pleasure to pop over to run with Sabs and co in the Lake District on several occasions, and call it work!

The world premiere of the hour long film will be during this year’s Kendal Mountain Festival (get your tickets here), after which you will be able buy it online for the modest sum of £5. For a taste of what’s to come, watch the trailer (and pre-order a download of the full film) here.
