A busman’s running holiday, with added pork pies (sort of)

I enjoyed a bit of a busman’s holiday recently, heading up to the Scottish Highlands for Salomon Skyline Scotland. It’s one of the portfolio of great events that Ourea Events organises and which Right Lines supports on the PR front. After an entirely necessary pivot during the Montane Dragon’s Back Race fewer than 10 days earlier (see Shane Ohly’s excellent blog post HERE, communications output from Scotland was a little more conventional, with the usual excellent imagery from No Limits Photography helping us to generate some strong media coverage, including a big picture lead in The Times.

As ever, the Ourea Events team did an impeccable job up there in every aspect of the various races. And I can attest to that from a different perspective this time. While there, I took on the challenge of the Lochaber 80k ultra run, as part of a treble to raise money for Durham Wildlife Trust (https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/ChrisJLines).

The Lochaber 80 route

As much to have a personal record of the event as anything, I wrote an account of my experience during the race for the Sedgefield Harriers website, which you can find HERE.

And to help promote the fundraising for Durham Wildlife Trust, I also had a really enjoyable chat with Gary Philipson of BBC Radio Tees, which you can hear (from 2:18:49) at https://www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/p0cx5k92.
